PositionWorking in the Data Processing Group of the Theory and Modelling Department you will primarily keep and develop existing codes used in the analysis of experimental data from JET. Your responsibilities are to increase develop and maintain a Linux based suite of FORTRAN. C. C++ and IDL codes that care for diagnostic data immediately after a JET beat has occurred and also other codes for more in-depth data analysis. You will also be required to assist in validation of JET plasma density data with scope for direct involvement in the JET physics programme either through plasma physics research and/or as a member of the hold back room aggroup.
RequirementsYou ordain need experience in software development in FORTRAN and/or C together with a relevant science degree and the ability to plan your own projects and act effectively with a team. Ideally you will have postgraduate experience in plasma physics particularly in the areas of plasma diagnostics transport analysis and/or plasma equilibrium reconstruction. Familiarity with a UNIX system would also be an favor.
